Responsibilities/Qualifications:

Parallel, a manager of senior living facilities, has a location in Westland and is seeking a new Maintenance Technician. Our Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility, both inside and out, by maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the residents.  They will oversee the maintenance of all facility plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical and equipment repair. Project based experience a plus. Working around the senior population a plus.

Job Duties

Responds to requests and concerns from residents, family members and team members

Responds to all building emergencies

Maintains the HVAC system to ensure proper air quality and comfortable temperatures

Timely completion of turning rooms. Prepare the rooms for new residents and assists with move-ins and move-outs

Handling minor repairs particularly relating to the repair of bathroom and kitchen equipment, changing light bulbs, and general maintenance

Complete miscellaneous tasks related to the visual appearance and upkeep of the property

Maintain the grounds by collecting trash, sweeping the dumpster areas and cleaning first impression areas

Maintain all painted surfaces and flooring throughout the community

Reviews Daily Log and Maintenance Log

Keep the Executive Director informed of any maintenance issues or occurrences and to seek guidance and support from the director but must be able to perform duties under minimal supervision

Test, schedules inspections and maintains proper documentation on the fire protection systems

Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Experience and/or knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and code compliance

Experience with OSHA and life safety regulations

Must be able to multi-task, work politely with senior residents, work with multiple tools, troubleshoot problems

High school diploma or GED required

Must pass a criminal background check

Experience in a retirement community, nursing home or assisted living community a plus

Basic computer knowledge

Must be able to effectively communicate and document in English

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Kneel, crouch and bend frequently

Must be able to stand for entire shift

Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)

May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
