Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care
Location: Mauston, Wisconsin
General Information:
Schedule: Full-time, 72 hours per pay period (three 12-hour shifts per week), 7:00pm to 7:30am.
Weekend Rotation: Every 4th weekend; weekend shift differential available.
Vacation Rotation: Paid Holidays.
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, professional nursing care to patients, performing assessment, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of patient care. The RN must adapt to changes in patient assignments, status, and unit needs.
Position Responsibilities:
Utilize the nursing process throughout the patient's hospital stay to ensure individualized care.
Possess a general understanding of disease processes, treatments, labs, and vital signs, with awareness of potential complications.
Develop and document individualized patient care plans based on assessment and medical diagnosis.
Provide independent care in line with unit requirements, physician orders, and hospital policy with minimal supervision.
Respond to life-threatening situations using nursing standards, policies, and protocols.
Perform or assist with procedures as outlined in departmental policy.
Observe and document patient condition changes and notify providers in a timely manner regarding reactions to drugs, treatments, or other significant incidents.
Administer medications, including IV therapy, with proficiency and avoid medication errors.
Initiate patient and family education and plan for discharge needs.
Delegate tasks and collaborate with other health team members based on patient needs.
Ensure a safe environment for patients, following safety precautions and infection control procedures.
Float to other units as needed and participate in quality improvement activities within the department.
Position Requirements:
Two-year nursing degree required; four-year degree preferred.
Must hold and maintain a nursing license. RNs with Compact Licensure must obtain a Wisconsin RN license within 90 days of relocation.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 1 month of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 2 years. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is encouraged within 2 years.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
Comprehensive nursing skills and knowledge of equipment.
Ability to manage, coordinate, and evaluate care for patients and their families.
Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication and a self-starter mentality.
