Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Mission System Engineering Integration and Test Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager, the Mission System Engineering Integration and Test Engineer will lead, work closely with, and be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team leading the cradle-to-grave technical definition of all aspects of a space domain solution—from direct customer engagement during the business development and capture stages to deriving technical requirements from customer mission capability. Mission SEIT (Systems Engineering Integration & Test) Engineers at Terran Orbital support the end-to-end mission space of key technological importance to the company. Mission SEIT Engineers will architect and drive key elements for missions, capabilities, system functional behavior, and system performance to support innovative, high-capability, high-reliability products and programs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supports customer engagements and related engineering mission architecture and analysis products to shape customer requirements at the mission level and provide guidance at lower levels of abstraction
Derives technical requirements from customer defined mission level needs, identify, and manage technical risks and opportunities
Perform systems engineering across all aspects of developing a space domain solution that may impact one or multiple missions and programs – from direct customer engagement that drives technical approaches to deriving requirements and architectures for mission capability needs
Designing and developing optimal mission architectures and detailed solutions to complex space domain challenges for various remote sensing, RF, and optical applications
Utilizing Subject Matter Expertise and applying surge support for the troubleshooting of focus areas
Ensuring knowledge capture and knowledge transfer by working with and mentoring engineering members
Engaging and supporting company tactical and strategic special projects
Mission Concept of Operations refinement, mapping, and application
Mission and system-level design activities to include remote sensing or communication architectures
System Integration, Verification, and Validation definition and execution
Mission Operations and systems tasking
Support proposal/capture efforts through technical engagement, writing, and supporting analysis
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required
8 + years of experience in mission engineering and analyses working with multifunctional teams within space-domain missions
Experience defining and executing Mission ConOps and decomposing OpsCon
Has technical leadership experience on a large program for the full Product Lifecycle, leading to a positive product outcome
Demonstrated experience and success with one or more of the key duties and responsibilities listed in this requisition
Experience with risk, issue, and opportunity management
Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization, including executive leadership
Ability to self-govern with minimal supervision, establish workload priorities, and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve programmatic or strategic initiatives
Additional Differentiators
Engineering Master's Degree in space systems
Experience and success with space-based encrypted communications and radar architectures and devices, as well as knowledge of standards for geospatial intelligence data and products
Demonstrated experience being a technical focal across multiple design authorities
