Join us as a Lead ServiceNow Software Engineer

This is an opportunity for a technically minded individual to join our ServiceNow Product team, working with new and innovative technology to deliver highly valuable solutions on the ServiceNow SaaS platform

Using your considerable experience of providing technical coaching and mentoring, you’ll help ServiceNow Application Developers to achieve expected outcomes, guiding them on technical best practice and how to implement solutions

You’ll be responsible for working across the software development lifecycle, from stakeholder identification and engagement, requirements gathering, analysis and design, through to coding, testing, deployment, and operations

You’ll work from home some of the time, but you’ll also spend one day a week working from our Edinburgh or London office

What you'll do

Joining a supportive and engaged team culture, you'll use Scrum Agile to deliver regular incremental improvements for our customers. You’ll also apply widely agreed software engineering principles and methodologies to design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services to achieve the stated business and technology goals within required budgets and timelines.

You’ll oversee the quality of work across the team of ServiceNow Application Developers, making sure that they meet the technical standards for all services outputs. Using your advanced experience of developing ServiceNow solution designs in-line with stakeholder requirements, you’ll protect the platform by pushing back when needed, while maintaining customer satisfaction.

You’ll also:

Formulate emergent design through innovative ideas, experimentation, and prototyping

Produce resilient and long-lived software to act flexibly and cope with future needs

Design and develop software with a focus on the automation of build, test, and deployment activities, using executable patterns

Write unit and integration tests in automated test environments to ensure code quality

Champion the reuse and sharing of platform components and technologies within the software engineering teams

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with advanced experience of coaching and mentoring ServiceNow Application Developers to implement innovative solutions on the ServiceNow platform. You’ll have strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to share complex technical concepts in a simple way while being comfortable pushing back when needed. You’ll also have undertaken this in a large organisation, preferably in financial services, and have delivered high quality results.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

Current certifications in ServiceNow System Administration and Application Developer and experience using this knowledge to produce solution designs to meet requirements

Advanced experience of leading the implementation of programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability, and performance

A proven track record of implementing complex ServiceNow solutions spanning the full software development lifecycle

Good ITIL knowledge, ideally with a foundation V4

Experience of information security policies and practices within the financial sector
