11am-6pm Tue-Thu (Oak Harbor)
Hourly/Non-Exempt Seasonal Position

The bell tradition began in 1900 with a teenage volunteer in New York City named Amelia Kunkel. She was apparently frustrated by the many bankers on Wall Street who walked by and ignored her. Kunkel went to a nearby Woolworths department store and bought a small bell for ten cents. The rest is history.
The one thing a lot of people dont realize is that a lot of the money that is raised during the Christmas season goes to help our units throughout the entire year to provide basic services so people dont fall through the safety net and nobody goes hungry, nobodys cold, and that nobody is out there lonely. Donations are not just spent and used at Christmas, even with all things done such as Christmas programs, presents, food, and Christmas dinners. These donations actually sustain efforts throughout the year.
Red Kettle Facts;
83 cents of every dollar donated during this time is used to support the organization's many missions throughout the world
The average charity spends 75 percent of their budget on programs, while the remaining money goes to cover overhead costs like fundraising
2023 is the 133rd year of the Red Kettle Christmas Donation program
4.5 million families are provided with food, shelter, clothes and gifts by the Salvation Army during each vacation season. Vacation outreach is only a fraction of what the Salvation Army focuses on year-round
7,600 Salvation Army centers provide aid in 5,000 communities nationwide
The Salvation Army serves in nearly every ZIP code in the U.S. and money raised in each community, in red kettles and throughout the year, stays within those areas to help that communitys local people in need
The Salvation Army also has a worldwide presence in 127 countries around the globe
Job Summary:
