Overview:

Lab Assistant (Evening Shift - Processing)

Weekend Schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Vacation rotation may be required

Join our dynamic laboratory team, where you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth preparation and processing of specimens for testing. In this position, you'll handle everything from separating blood components for testing to providing exceptional customer service through prompt and courteous responses to inquiries. You'll also help manage laboratory inventory and assist with processing mail for specific clients and locations. For those with phlebotomy skills, there may be opportunities to perform specimen collection, ensuring the highest standard of care for our patients. Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including separating blood components for both in-house and send-out testing.

Ensure accurate and timely processing of all specimens while adhering to laboratory protocols.

Provide courteous and thorough responses to inquiries and requests from clients and colleagues.

Process mail and handle specimens for designated clients and locations with attention to detail.

Support the laboratory by maintaining supply inventory and restocking as needed.

May be required to perform phlebotomy as needed, ensuring proper collection techniques and patient care.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Education and Work Experience:

Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

1 Year in Hospital Laboratory or Reference Laboratory Preferred.

Typing skills, computer experience, some science education Preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:

Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel

Epic (if applicable to position)

Performance Manager/NetLearning

Laboratory Information System, such as EPIC

Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.

Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.

Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.

Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Other Requirements:

Must possess skills in Communication and Customer Service Preferred.

Must be able to work under stress and with shifting priorities and interruptions.

Must have familiarity with keyboard.

Ability to multitask in answering the phone and maintaining other work functions.
