What You'll Do::

Within the Supported Employment program, the Employment Peer Professional utilizes their own employment experiences to offer individuals assistance in obtaining and maintaining the level and type of employment that is consistent with their employment goals. Responsibilities include:

Promoting recovery concepts like hope, self-determination, self-advocacy, self-direction and personal responsibility in an effort to support individuals in achieving their employment goals.

Modeling and mentoring recovery values, attitudes and beliefs in order to promote recovery, resilience and overall wellness in individual’s lives.

Assisting individuals in identifying strengths; wellness goals and setting objectives around employment.

Preform outreach and engagement efforts for the team in order to identify and engage with individuals who could potentially benefit from Supported Employment services.

Attending team meetings with the individual to promote the individual’s wellness and employment needs.

Partnering with the Supported Employment team to develop additional program content.

Use of language, self-disclosure, confrontation of non-recovery concepts that are discussed and coaching of staff who display non-recovery attitudes, beliefs and/or language.

Demonstrating the core values of peer support by building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, employees, and members of outside agencies.

Providing accurate and thorough documentation of all service activity related to client care. Completing documentation in a manner that meets the timeliness and quality standards of the organization.

What We're Looking For::

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use issues and meet all the requirements to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist in North Carolina.

For ongoing employment, staff will need to attended and complete the following trainings: Department of Health and Human Services approved - “40 hour Peer Support Specialist” curriculum, “Foundations of Supported Employment” curriculum, and “Vocational Peer Mentoring” curriculum.
