How you make a difference:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in supervising and directing the activities of licensed and non-licensed staff, providing nursing care and other health services to patients assigned to medical-surgical and psychiatric units. Assists in ensuring that patient care is provided in accordance with facility policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and accepted standards of nursing practice. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. 

Key Responsibilities:

Plans, develops, and supervises nursing personnel and services to patients at the facility. 

Oversees nursing systems, ensures consistent care delivery, and maintains patient rights. 

Shares responsibility for selecting and appraising nursing staff and conducts rounds on all units throughout the day. 

Assists in ensuring resident safety, coordinates orientation training, and prepares reports. 

Advocates for PI, risk management, patient safety, and infection control principles, and serves on clinical care committees and task forces. 

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education  

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing 

BSN preferred. 

Experience  

Minimum of two years’ experience as a Nursing Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or other supervisory level position in correctional, psychiatric and/or medical surgical nursing.  

Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.  

Licenses/Certifications  

Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment, or possess a multi-state compact license recognized by the State of employment to practice professional nursing. 

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
