Overview:  Responsible for the execution of effective and efficient care delivery operations across the Mercy ministry. Directs and oversees strategic and tactical developments to promote clinical, operational, and financial performance excellence. Evaluates complex corporate and competitive information for enhanced, comprehensive decision making, with the objective of improving the timeliness and the quality of the input to the decision process. Ensures the use of applications/technology enhance business decision-making capabilities and improve care delivery across the continuum. Responsible for leading the development of analytic platforms capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Facilitates organizational strategies for governance, design, implementation, integration, and usage. Provides guidance to strategic decisions that affect ambulatory, service line, and operational excellence. Partners with the system CNO to develop growth strategies, including associated operational and capital plans.Partners with industry to identify and facilitate growth of strategic partnerships throughout the value chain, resulting in improved operational capabilities to sustain Mercy clinical competitive advantage.

Experience:  Five years of progressive professional experience in hospital operations, health system or consulting settings required.- Five years of experience in utilizing integrated technology platforms for strategic planning in a hospital, health system, professional services firm or other healthcare setting.

Workforce optimization and operations

Developing strategic labor and workforce programs using analytics

Workforce planning forecast.

Facilitating quarterly labor operating  reviews.

Change and labor management experience.

Assessing national labor trends.

Required Education: Master's Degree in Business Administration/Health Administration or a related field required.

Other:  Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across the ministry to execute operational performance excellence.- Ability to analyze, assess and articulate future changes and business models developing in the healthcare field as well as a strong understanding of the healthcare environment and trends and ability to translate trends into strategic action.

- Experience in developing and executing comprehensive health system and ambulatory strategic plans with a strong ability to think futuristically and strategically and apply principles and techniques of strategic planning and systems thinking.

- Proficiency in conducting strategic internal and external analyses, including market assessments and the development of enhanced analytics, forecasts and models.

- Experience in developing service line growth strategies with a focus in orthopedics, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, oncology, and womens health.

- Experience in working collaboratively with senior leadership teams, physicians and key internal and external constituencies to facilitate idea generation, strategic discussion and decision-making.

- Possesses advanced written, presentation and verbal communication skills that can be leveraged to facilitate idea generation, strategic discussion and decision-making throughout various levels of the system and enable comfortable interaction with senior executives, boards, physicians and external firms.

- Must be able to assume a high degree of independent functioning and demonstrate prudent decision-making, autonomy and flexibility.

Mercy Leadership Competencies:

- Experience: 5 plus years prior healthcare leadership preferred.- Education: Master of Business Administration (MBA)Reporting Structure:- Direct Report: Chief Nursing Optimization Officer (CNOO)
