The Prevention Specialist provides educational and awareness programs to children, caregivers, and community members on abuse prevention. The specialist equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to reduce the risk of abuse and encourages those affected to report it. The role involves working closely with schools and community organizations to ensure the success of prevention programs, following best practices in the field.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with schools, caregivers, and community organizations to schedule presentations and distribute relevant materials.

Delivers age-appropriate, evidence-based prevention presentations for various audiences, including children and caregivers.

Collects and reviews feedback from presentations to make ongoing improvements.

Participates in multi-disciplinary meetings and strategic planning sessions to promote the implementation of prevention programs.

Maintains accurate documentation of program activities and assists in reporting for program evaluation and funding purposes

Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and share knowledge with colleagues.

Applies newly acquired knowledge to improve program services.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences.

1 year of experience in abuse prevention or a related field preferred

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficient in basic computer programs (word processing, email, etc.).

Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
