Field Service Engineer

Monday - Friday days £49,000 - OTE £70k!!!

One of the UK's leading Automation system integrators are currently looking for Mobile Field Service Engineers to join their team.

Job Summary:

Due to the mobile nature of the position, you will be travelling out to various customer sites across the UK on a regular basis and providing call-out support for emergency breakdowns. To support this, we provide a company van in addition to all the tools and equipment required to carry out the role.

The position will also support the occasional scheduled service work with a distinct focus on control systems including Siemens S7 along with distributed control systems, drives and scanners. We are seeking those with a bias in controls but also a multi-skilled engineering background in mechanical and electrical-related disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

To undertake emergency repairs in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and industry standard practices
Fix, maintain, and troubleshoot conveyor systems incorporating relay PLC logic controlled components-optical sensors, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachos, and encoders.
To undertake occasional scheduled service work in accordance with the standards set out in the relevant manufacturer's equipment manual.
To accurately record all work undertaken
To provide a 24hr x 7day emergency on-call service as require
Prioritise and manage call outs
Coordinate and execute the service jobs according to our SLA
Facilitate coordination of the customer service team in the UK and liaise with the team at HQ
To always comply with Health & Safety legislation
To always ensure the quality of output
To always represent the company in a professional manner
To ensure the correct equipment/tools are carried to undertake the role
To identify continuous improvement and sales opportunities
Comply with all Health, Safety and Environment policies and other relevant regulations ensuring accurate recording and reporting of any incidents, accidents or near misses.

Requirements

5+ years of field service experience and a strong track record in a similar role
working experience on automated equipment such as cranes, lifts, and conveyors
Experience with PLC and controls is advantageous
High confidence level to work at heights - valid certification for working at heights
Experience and proficiency in the following areas:
Automated conveyors systems and controls
Electrical and electronic principles
Blueprint and electrical schematic reading
Knowledge of MMS (maintenance management system) programs and implementation
Preventative maintenance procedures
Industrial electrical, controls, electronics
PLCs - knowledge of Siemens S7 and/or Allen Bradley
Experience in Postal sortation and conveyor technologies

Qualifications/Experience

Time served Apprenticeship or equivalent.

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in engineering (electrical or mechanical)

Full UK Driving licence

Experience of working within a similar role (FMCG, Food Manufacturing, Waste to recycling, Baggage Handling, Automated warehousing)

A proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Experience of working within a high-pressured environment
