Do you have experience working one-on-one with young adults with Special Needs in a mentoring role?
Are you confident in supporting young people in the community with daily life and promoting safety?
Are you a strong person who is passionate about working with SEND?

TeacherActive is looking for experienced Residential Support Workers to join our amazing supply team in Sheffield! Our client is a specialist education college that provides personalised support and learning to students aged 16-25-year-olds who have Autism, Learning Difficulties, Mental Health difficulties, and behaviour challenges.

Students reside in houses within Sheffield and the surrounding areas, living alongside their peers and staff. They will develop their independent living skills by actively participating in the daily management of the household, including tasks like meal planning, shopping, organising social activities, and household chores. Staff will collaborate closely with students, providing the necessary support to help them learn to live more independently and make safe, informed decisions.

This role is agency and shifts will be allocated depending on weekly availability. We have morning (8 am – 4 pm), afternoon (3:30 pm to 10 pm), and night shifts; both waking and sleep (9:30 pm to 8:30 am).

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining a high standard of care and support that addresses the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of individuals
Ensuring each young person’s care plan is consistently followed and updated as needed to reflect their evolving needs
Building relationships that young people experience as positive, warm, and fulfilling
Creating a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment where children and young people feel safe and protected from harm
Offering emotional support during times of difficulty or stress

The ideal Residential Support Worker will need to:

Have previous experience within a Residential Support Work environment
Be patient and caring when providing all aspects of care
Be strong-willed and confident with challenging behaviour
Have experience in one-to-one support to encourage independence and raise self-esteem
Respect privacy and dignity at all times
Be flexible and adaptable

Benefits of the role:

Flexibility to pick and choose your availability
Opportunities to explore other roles within Health and Social Care and Education
Weekly Pay (PAYE)
Internal and external staff development opportunities, such as nationally recognised qualifications up to Master’s degree level
Relaxed dress code

All of our supply staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you’re paying the right level of Tax and National Insurance and there’s no messing around with admin charges coming out of your hard-earned cash.

For more information, please call Ellie Ashton on (phone number removed) or please send your CV to (url removed).

All applicants will be contacted to discuss suitability and then invited to register with TeacherActive.

Registration involves an enhanced DBS check, ID checks and will require you to supply good professional references. We pride ourselves on excellent service. We can provide a wide range of opportunities in schools and other educational institutions, with good rates of pay, at times to suit your needs.

Regular external audits have shown repeatedly that our standards are exceptional. We are passionate about finding the right staff for each environment.

TeacherActive is an equal opportunities employer, and operates as an Employment Business in providing temporary or contract job-seeking services
