Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Quality Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Sr. Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing quality systems and overall root cause and corrective action measures to drive the continuous improvement culture.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and implement effective product quality acceptance procedures, including inspection instructions for incoming, in-process, and final inspection/audit and gage and testing equipment

Provide quality support to design, machining, and manufacturing, ensuring compliance with all quality requirements

Maintain a regimented problem-solving schedule to ensure timely identification of root cause(s), permanent corrective actions, and timely responses communicated per customer requirements. Maintain status log with ongoing follow-up on required actions and provide summary reports to the Director of Engineering.

Evaluate returned defective products, then implement appropriate corrective actions with the aid of other departments (manufacturing, engineering, design, purchasing, etc.)

Maintain and control the nonconforming hold area for timely and valid disposition of nonconforming or suspect material

Assist the Director of Engineering and business unit managers in day-to-day quality department reviews, ensuring the quality system is performing to the requirements, both externally and internally

Collaborate with associates and engineers from other departments researching new processes and improving existing methods, tooling, and equipment

Ensure safe and proper operation of every quality fixture. Verify that preventive maintenance is performed to quality and production standards

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Promote team approach to problem-solving as Team Leader, Member, or Coach troubleshooting operational issues daily

Aid in the development of standardized work instruction for consistent manufacturing methods

Consistently adhere to and support policies and procedures, including ISO and safety regulations; assist in investigating and documenting potential infractions

Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job

Coordinate and perform quality audits to evaluate the implementation of the management system and identify areas of improvement

Monitor and audit process, material, and product testing against established standards

Update monthly metrics and report status and initiatives to senior management

Develop and manage quality database programs

Prepare statistical analysis on audit findings and corrective actions.

Track performance improvement notices and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions

Provide mentoring and training to increase awareness of quality requirements

Collect and evaluate feedback from the management team, project managers, and supervisors to identify and recommend opportunities to improve the quality of systems

Identify and drive quality management best practices within AS9100 to continuously improve current processes, systems, and tools

Accountable for overall management system accreditation and compliance with plans and regulations

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering, quality management, or a related engineering technology

4+ years of related experience in the manufacturing industry

3+ years of experience in performing audits related to quality controls

Experience/training in AS9100 and ISO9001 standards

Demonstrated experience working in multi-organization teams in a quality assurance role

Team player with the ability to work closely with peers and within division project teams

Experience with audit and inspection in accordance with quality management systems

Training and experience in ISO9001 and AS9100 required

Must have a continuous improvement mindset

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere

Salary Range $110,000-$150,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
