About the role

My client is currently seeking a Graduate Transport Planner to join its Highways and Transportation Planning teams in Cardiff and Bristol. My clients Highways and Transportation Planning team undertake environmental assessment and transport planning work for clients across all development sectors; ranging from residential, commercial and mixed use development in the built environment sector, through to minerals and waste operations, power, infrastructure and more.

You will be given structured training in order to provide a range of support to the team undertaking these tasks, as part of a clear career pathway to becoming a Transport Planner and working towards accreditation with the Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT). You will have a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and respected multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, working under the guidance of its expert team for a variety of clients in support of a variety of development projects.

Whilst ideally they are seeking a graduate with knowledge/qualifications and experience within the Transport Planning field, they are also open to hearing from you if you have appropriate qualifications as above, and a desire to develop a successful career in this essential planning discipline. What you'll do

You will be assisting in the preparation of Environmental Statements, Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans, as well as providing input to junction modelling and undertake site visits across the UK.

You will utilise your strong IT and communication skills, and apply your report writing, analytical and numeric skills in order to undertake these assessments/reports and to deliver associated project work.

Above all else, they are seeking someone who is motivated and confident, with the potential to learn and grow as your involvement in projects develops over time.

Who you are
• A genuine interest in developing and progressing a career within Highways and Transportation Planning
• Degree level qualification (or higher) in an Engineering, Planning or Transport related discipline
• Any vocational experience working in a Transport Planning, or similar related, role would be desirable
• Competent in MS Word & Excel and with strong written skills, with a key part of the role focussed on report writing and written correspondence with clients / stakeholders
• Any working knowledge of key software such as AUTOCAD/ARCADY/PICADY/LINSIG would be desirable (but not essential)
• A full driving licence valid in the UK
