Overview:

The Lake Nona Wave Hotel is searching for a dedicated, organized dishwasher/steward who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced culinary environment. The dishwasher/steward’s duties include removing soiled plates and flatware from F&B areas, washing them thoroughly, and resetting clean flatware in preparation for the next shift or event. They may also restock items, unload delivery trucks, help prepare cook stations, clean appliances and machines, empty and clean trash receptacles, and other duties as assigned.  This position provides support to all food and beverage areas through cleanliness, organization, and pace in the stewarding department. These responsibilities include using proper cleaning techniques and designated equipment to meet hotel needs.

Responsibilities:

Maintain a positive physical appearance in the stewarding and back-of-house areas

Communicates supply, maintenance, safety, and storage needs to leadership promptly.

Assists and maintains the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and environments.

Fulfill restaurant, bar, banquet service needs from stewarding throughout the shift and ensures that all requirements are met according to specifications.

Stocks food & beverage areas with napkins, utensils, trays, and assists the culinary team with all aspects of service.

Transports used dirty dishes, pots, pans, plates, flatware, and glasses, to dish washing stations. 

Assist to scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, pans, plates, flatware, and glasses, washing dirty dishes, and putting them away.

Cleans machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers, etc.

Sweeps and mops floors, especially if items are broken or spilled.

Empties out the trash and rinses garbage cans.

Assist with unloading and storing stock.

Supports other food & beverage staff members by assisting with other tasks, as needed.

Maintains clean and orderly stock room/warehouse with all stewarding/kitchen supplies. 

Assists with cleaning and opening or closing tasks.

Reports kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures.

Qualifications:

To be successful as a dishwasher, you should be a committed, communicative team player with excellent time management skills. You should be able to prioritize tasks in a busy setting and adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures.

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Must meet the age limit to work in a food & beverage establishment that serves alcoholic beverages.

Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment/machinery.

Knowledge of proper chemical handling.

Must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

A friendly, polite, and courteous nature.

Strong customer service and team working skills.

Physical stamina to work long hours on your feet.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

Ability to stand or walk for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 25 pounds.

Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.

The flexibility to work shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
