Job Description:

Century Engineering, a Kleinfelder company, is seeking a responsible candidate for the position of Senior Construction Inspector to work on a variety of interesting projects in the Richmond, CA area.
The successful candidate will perform construction inspection and material testing on various projects. Projects will consist of bridges and other various structures, roadways, sidewalks, buildings, water and sewer installations and/or stormwater management.
Responsibilities:
Conduct field inspection of construction activities on complex projects and record details on an
Inspector's Daily Report (IDR) and/or other reports as necessary
Exercise a certain degree of independent thought and judgment
May provide guidance and/or work assignments to other inspectors
Assure compliance with construction documents and state/federal rules and regulations
Review construction-related documentation, including contractors' pay applications and change order requests
Provide materials testing (steel, concrete, HMA and soils) and record test results
Assist in review and response to contractor RFIs
Plan, coordinate and conduct job meetings and assist in the preparation of minutes
Frequently travel to various work sites
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Current/valid Driver's License with demonstrated safe driving practices and reliable transportation
Minimum of eight years of experience in construction, construction inspection or construction contract administration and at least 4 years of required experience involving bridges or other related structures
NICET or project relevant certification(s)
Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations
Strong organizational skills
Working knowledge of surveying principles and practice
Basic knowledge of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel)
Knowledge in basic engineering principles of algebra, geometry and trigonometry
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Outstanding customer service skills, either in-person, via telephone or via email
Efficiency, accuracy and strong attention to detail
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
