Overview:
The Warehouse Worker role deals directly with receiving, storing and distributing material, tools, equipment and products for all departments at Snapping Shoals EMC. A successful candidate prioritizes safety, enjoys physical work, is detail oriented, and desires to efficiently meet the requests of others in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
-Reads/fills work orders, shipping documents, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed to their proper areas.
-Sorts, marks, and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
-Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
-Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to job sites when necessary. Maintains up to date material inventory records and assists with semiannual inventories. Operates forklift.
-Maintains proper emergency material levels for emergency purposes only.
-Checks stock for material needs, makes list of items and quantity to reorder for Warehouse Supervisor – maintains vendor rotation to keep orders current.
-Keeps all wire tagged as to size and type and quantity on hand, figures remaining quantity of wire using footage markings on cable.
-Maintains adequate security of warehouse area.
-Keeps inside of warehouse clean and orderly.
-Issues PPE and makes sure all have been tested or are within given expiration periods. Maintains daily records on all wire and materials stored outside given to employees, contractors, or other customers from storage warehouse for inventory control.
-Scans and issues meters and reconnect collars.
-Completes daily import process and reporting for collars and meters.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
-Calculate figures and amounts such as length, conversions and area
-Understand and carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
-Ability to stand, climb, walk and to frequently lift and move materials up to 50-75 lbs.
-Operate a forklift
-Work overtime as needed
Preferred Skills:
-Experience with computer data entry
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
-Valid Georgia Driver's License
-Licensed to drive a Forklift
-High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
-One-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
