Overview:

UF Health Central Florida provides exciting opportunities to grow your pharmacy practice by joining a team whose mission is to proactively prevent, identify, and resolve medication-related problems, educate health care professionals, and facilitate research and distribution of new knowledge related to medication use. The Pharmacy Services Department at UF Health Leesburg Hospital employs it’s staff between the central pharmacy and decentralized positions with patient care units such as ED, ICU, and med tele. The Pharmacy Services Department supports four multidisciplinary rounding services as well as an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Residency Program. Our Pharmacists are able to build upon their skills through precepting of pharmacy students and residents, system level collaboration with UF Health Shands, UF Health Jacksonville, and UF Health St. Johns, and opportunities to participate in patient care and medication safety projects.

Pharmacists help support UF Health Leesburg Hospital’s mission to improve the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities we have served for 58 years. The hospital offers advanced cardiac care including one of the largest cardiothoracic surgery programs in the state. The American College of Cardiology has recognized UF Health Leesburg Hospital for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain by awarding a Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI and Resuscitation — its highest and best level of accreditation. UF Health Leesburg Hospital also offers advanced orthopedic surgery, stroke care, emergency services as well as labor and delivery care.

The hospital is part of UF Health Central Florida, a not-for-profit health care system and the largest most comprehensive provider of health care services in the region. UF Health Central Florida provides inpatient acute hospital services at UF Health Leesburg Hospital and UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital, inpatient rehabilitation services at UF Health Rehab Hospital – The Villages and diagnostic laboratory services at several locations. We take pride in providing progressive, innovative technology, along with building strong relationships with patients, families, physicians and residents of the communities we serve.

Responsibilities:

Provides pharmaceutical care services to the patients, physicians and staff of UF Health Central Florida. Is involved in various activities that include, but are not limited to: thorough review of medication orders, optimizing medication therapy to prevent medication errors, promote patient satisfaction, and provide evidence-based therapies to support the care of our patients, medication dosing and monitoring (e.g., pharmacokinetics, warfarin, TPN’s), involvement in multidisciplinary committees, and collaborating with both physicians and nursing staff. Clinical Staff Pharmacists have the opportunity to work both in the central pharmacy to support the operation of efficient patient care and on patient care units to provide in-person clinical support to patients and nursing staff on the unit.

This position will also aim to support our new Meds to Beds initiative and will involve staffing of our outpatient pharmacy located within our hospital. During this coverage the pharmacist is involved in supervision of pharmacy technicians, precepting of pharmacy students, and conducting patient education both for outpatients and inpatients prior to discharge.

- Professional School, College Masters, or more

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

-Valid Florida Pharmacist License
