Position Summary:

Provides individualized and quality evaluations, assessments, prognoses, treatments and education to meet each patient's needs based on medical necessity and clinical indication in accordance with the Occupational Therapy California State Practice Act and Title 16 requirements. These services will be provided in settings across the entire continuum of care including: inpatient acute care, inpatient acute rehabilitation, and outpatient services. Adheres to professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined by department expectations and professional organizations. Maintains productivity, weekend and vacation requirements as specified. Ongoing professional development and continuing education to promote clinical excellence and evidence based practice. Assists patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

Major Position Responsibilities:

The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. They should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position. The characteristics of the position and standards of performance may be changed by TCMC with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.

Accurately perform individualized and quality evaluations, assessments, prognoses, treatments and education to patients and families/caregivers.

Provide care in inpatient acute care, inpatient acute rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings based on patient care and business needs.

Meet weekend and vacation requirements based on FTE status.

Independently assess all areas relevant to patient function, utilize sound clinical decision making skills, develop a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan, and complete all required documentation in a timely manner.

Accurately enters data in Tri-City Medical Center’s Electronic Health Record System

Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Provide mentorship as requested (voluntary).

Follows organization’s rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards while carrying out the mission, vision, and values of Tri-City Health District.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Qualifications:

1 - 3 years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferred.

Competent in provision of Occupational Therapy modalities, interventions, and procedures, required.

Advance Practice Certification, preferred

Knowledge and proficiency of standard office equipment (i.e., fax, photocopier), personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet), required.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, required.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, required.

Strong Customer Service skills, required.

Education: 

Graduate of an approved professional school or graduate of an accredited college or university with a degree in Occupational Therapy, required.

Licenses:

Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Occupational Therapy Board of California, required.

Certifications:

Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.

Advance Practice Certification in ‘Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation or Intervention’ and CNT or CNT eligible, preferred. (NICU only)

Advance Practice Certification, preferred. (for all areas other than NICU)

CCS Paneled Provider for NICU

OTR certification, required.

NBCOT certification, preferred.

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.

*Salary/Hourly Wage range based on experience.
