Major Position Responsibilities:
This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite. This is an on-site position.
Summary:
Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
· Develop specific calibrations and tests.
· Document results in accordance with the specification.
· Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
· Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
· Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
· Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
· Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
· Maintain documentation for training and experience hours.
Impact of the Role:
Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
Requires working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical scientific or operational processes
Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise
Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods
Works with a moderate degree of supervision
For Mesquite Operations: This will be for Second Shift Position.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
Vocational/Technical Training Degree
Preferred: Associate's Degree
Discipline/Major: Science degree in NDT or equivalent training or experience
3-5 years prior experience in a similar position
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Technical Expertise
Problem-Solving Skills and Time Management Skills
Manual dexterity.
Required Newar Vision Acuity and Color Perception
Additional Certifications:
NAS 410 Certification Level 1
UT Level 2 Certification with a minimum of 800 hours documented OJT hours
Preferred:
Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
Physical Demands:
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
May need to stand for long periods of time.
Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as required.
This position is Safety Sensitive.
