Operating across London and the Southeast, they work on a range of projects from large-scale urban regeneration schemes to boutique developments. Hill is a highly reputable Main Contractor with a focus on delivering excellence in every project.
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join their team, overseeing projects in Brentford and the Essex areas.
Job Purpose:
As an Assistant Site Manager, you will assist the Site Manager in overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of construction packages. This role will require managing both internal and external packages while maintaining strong health & safety practices, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring the site runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support Site Management: Assist in the management and coordination of site activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timescales, and budgets.
* Internal & External Package Management: Oversee and coordinate both internal (e.g., MEP, fit-out, finishes) and external (e.g., roofing, facades, landscaping) packages, ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
* Health & Safety: Enforce stringent health and safety policies on-site, ensuring all personnel are working in a safe environment and adhere to regulations.
* Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials used, ensuring the project meets the required specifications and standards.
* Programme Monitoring: Assist in managing the construction programme, ensuring tasks are completed on time, and escalate any potential delays or issues to the Site Manager.
* Subcontractor Coordination: Liaise with subcontractors to ensure they adhere to the project programme, scope of work, and quality requirements.
* Client and Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain clear and open communication with clients and stakeholders, providing progress updates and addressing any concerns.
* Problem Solving: Identify and resolve on-site issues quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to the construction programme.
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an Assistant Site Manager or similar, ideally with a Main Contractor working on residential or mixed-use projects.
* Internal & External Packages: Proven experience in managing both internal (e.g., fit-out, MEP) and external (e.g., roofing, facade) construction packages.
* Qualifications: SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification. CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card. First Aid certification.
* A relevant qualification in Construction Management (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ, or degree) is preferred.
* Health & Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and experience enforcing them on-site.
* Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational and time-management skills to ensure smooth workflow and project delivery.
* Communication Skills: Strong communication and leadership abilities, capable of working well with teams, subcontractors, and clients.
* IT Proficiency: Proficiency in using project management tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
