Position: Travel Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Palo Alto, California
Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 3 months
Pay: $3,168.90 Weekly Gross (including $1,575 non-taxable)
Schedule:
Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Hours: 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts
Days: Monday through Friday, rotating weekends required

About the Role:
The CVICU RN will provide critical care to pediatric patients with congenital or acquired heart conditions in a 36-bed unit. This includes pre-op and post-op care for cardiac surgeries, management of heart failure, and support for advanced therapies like Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), arrhythmias, and heart transplants. The patient demographic ranges from neonates to adults.
Compensation Details:
Local Rates: $75.45 base + $113.18 overtime
Travel Rates: $37.95 base + $56.93 overtime + $315 non-taxable per full shift worked
Weekly Gross: $3,168.90 for 36 hours (inclusive of taxable and non-taxable components)
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university
Active California RN License
Minimum 1 year of current RN experience in pediatric critical care OR 2 years of RN experience in neonatal or adult critical care OR 2 years of RN experience in pediatric or adult cardiac acute care
Minimum 1 year of current CVICU experience as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Proficient with EPIC healthcare software
Preferred Qualifications:
CCRN Certification
3+ years of pediatric critical care experience
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in caring for critically ill neonates, children, and adults with complex cardiac conditions
Skilled in managing pre- and post-operative cardiac surgeries and advanced therapies like ECMO and VADs
Strong clinical assessment skills, with the ability to perform comprehensive evaluations, interpret data, and manage complex clinical situations
Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate care effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrates leadership qualities and actively contributes to unit initiatives and team dynamics
