Smile Education is a leading recruitment service for schools in the West Midlands. A Forward-Thinking educational setting within Halesowen, is currently looking for a SEMH Teacher to work with a primary class on a long-term position, starting immediately.

About the Role:

You will be supporting a class of primary students with learning difficulties and disabilities
You will be supporting students with special educational needs, such as behavioural needs, physical needs, and complex health needs.
You will be responsible for carrying out personal care with children
You will be using the National Curriculum to deliver tailored educational programmes to suit the young people in your class
You will be responsible for teaching, planning lessons and marking work

Ofsted stated that the school is a welcoming and positive learning community that serves the needs of pupils with severe, profound, and complex learning needs extremely well

The school follows the Primary curriculum and aims to achieve positive outcomes by using their own adaptations to suit individual children’s needs.
The school caters for 87 primary aged children aged 3-11 years with severe and complex learning difficulties
About You:

You have experience teaching students with SEN needs
You have experience working with children with emotional and behavioural needs
You are comfortable assisting with children with very severe and profound needs
You are comfortable providing personal care and assisting with hoist use
You have a caring, nurturing, and patient manor to be able to work in a SEN environment
Hold a teaching degree
Hold a current DBS or be willing to apply for one.
Knowledge of the primary curriculum is desirable
Makaton training – nonverbal
