The Role
At Living Room, the Lead Line Cook plays a pivotal role in ensuring our kitchen operates seamlessly while delivering exceptional culinary experiences. As a Lead Line Cook, you thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrating leadership and inspiring fellow team members to remain composed and efficient during peak service hours.
Culinary Excellence: Oversee the preparation and execution of menu items across all kitchen stations, ensuring consistency and quality from prep to plate. This includes working in the pantry, fry station, and other areas, with a focus on adhering to allergy requests and specific dish alterations.
Leadership & Team Development: Serve as a positive influence, delegating tasks effectively and providing guidance to the kitchen team. Support the Executive Sous Chef by maintaining company standards and fostering a welcoming work environment that boosts team morale.
Inventory & Cost Management: Assist with inventory control to maintain sustainable food costs, reduce wastage, and monitor cooking temperatures and quality. Educate team members on how their actions impact the overall profit and loss of the company.
Operational Efficiency: Ensure proper procedures are followed, including clocking in and out for shifts and breaks. Contribute to maintaining Living Room’s target goals for service quality and guest satisfaction.
Training & Mentorship: Attend training sessions and mentor both new and existing team members, supporting their growth in areas they wish to develop.
Requirements
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a fast pace, upscale and approachable environment of professionals
Strong understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
Proven ability to execute all menu items and properly prepare and deliver top quality dishes on all stations
Food handler’s certificate
Strong communicator, collaborator and motivator with ability to build professional relationships with all leaders and kitchen team
Proactive, team-player who can work well independently as well as on a team
Flexible schedule and ability to work morning, night, weekend and vacation’s (as needed)
Ability to multitask and work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
Possess a level of creativity to create recipes from scratch
