Manufacturing Manager - Gloucester - £ Competitive
Fabrication | CNC Machining | Transformation
Shorterm Group has partnered exclusively with a household name in logistics and supply chain to recruit a new Manufacturing Manager with a strong technical background in either welding/fabrication or CNC machining to be based out of our Gloucester facility. You'll be hiring and leading a team of c. 50 manufacturing/assembly operators and supervisors as part of a major transformation involving the building of an in-house engineering function totally from scratch.
We're looking to completely revolutionise what we do, by optimising and automating throughout our product pipeline - we'll be deploying automated super hubs, designing, developing and manufacturing AGV solutions in a total re-imagining of our existing logistics systems. As our new Manufacturing Engineer you'll be helping us to achieve this vision from day 1.
This truly is a key role for us - it influences the entire project roadmap - so we'll be looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with strong credentials. You should have:
* Demonstrable background in CNC machining and/or welding/fabrication: either you've
worked on a major installation of relevant machinery, you've run a machine shop or
else managed a team of fabricators in a workshop environment.
* Experience in manufacturing and assembly lines, maximising up time availability and
optimising flow (deep understanding of a range of lean manufacturing principles
essential)
* Proven track record of bringing tangible performance improvements through creating
plans, introducing/managing process improvement initiatives
* Ability to create buy-in, and influence stakeholders at all levels across the
business
* Experience across the full spectrum of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People and
the Environment
* A passion for developing people and driving change:
o being able to effectively implement strategy and ideas while building a culture of
can-do without fear of failure in order to inspire people to generate ideas and
identify improvement opportunities will be absolutely critical for this role.
o People management skills are an absolute priority, and getting the best out of
your team in a positive way should be the cornerstone of how you operate.
