Accounts Assistant
Location: Sevenoaks

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Overview:
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company based in Sevenoaks, is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with over 2 years of commercial experience in a similar role, who is looking to further their career in a supportive and professional environment. Experience using SAGE 50 is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Processing invoices: Accurately input and process purchase and sales invoices
* Bank reconciliations: Regularly perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
* Credit control: Assist in monitoring outstanding payments and liaising with customers to ensure timely payment
* Accounts payable/receivable: Maintain and manage supplier and customer accounts
* VAT returns: Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns
* Assisting with payroll: Provide support in payroll processing as required
* Supporting month-end processes: Assist in closing accounts, preparing financial statements, and producing reports
* General administration: Ensure accurate record-keeping and filing of financial documents
* Liaising with external auditors: Support in preparing documentation for external audits
* Ad hoc finance duties: Provide additional support to the finance team as required.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years’ commercial experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
* Proficient in using sage 50 accounting software
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
* Experience with bank reconciliations, invoicing, and VAT returns
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
* Good communication skills and ability to liaise with both internal teams and external stakeholders
* Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
* A proactive and team-oriented mindset
Desirable:
* AAT qualification or working towards a professional accounting qualification would be an advantage but not essential.
