Overview:

The BIM Project Coordinator participates, as directed by the supervisor, in any modeling efforts and 3D coordination for educational, institutional, and commercial projects. They collaborate with Project Managers, supervisory staff, field leadership and external customers to meet objectives, investigate, and implement ways to improve the efficiency and profitability of all projects. Organizational skills, flexibility, critical thinking, and leadership skills are necessary traits.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates with internal and external team members including project managers, superintendents, foremen, architects, engineers as well as general contractors and other sub-contractors.

Participates in coordination meetings to resolve clashes while maintaining budget, constructability and code requirements.

Produces shop drawings, cross-sections of underground, conduits and cables, as required for instructions to fabrication and installation crew.

Prepares documentation requesting clarification of original design in the form of RFI’s and follow-up responses.

Performs verification and preparation of layout drawings to meet contract requirements.

Reads architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical floor plans, section and elevations.

Coordinate and monitor shop drawing submissions, promoting modeling best practices, clash detection, and data conversion.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5+ years of electrical detailing experience and/or equivalent field installation experience.

Knowledge of 3D coordination with other trades.

Must have extensive knowledge of code compliance and constructability, as well as the ability to create accurate point files and use associated software.

Solid working knowledge of Autodesk software and Autodesk Revit, as well as accompanying add-ons for coordination.

Experience using Navisworks required; AutoCAD MEP is a plus.

Understanding of electrical symbols and electrical drafting conventions and standards.

Detailed understanding of all facets of construction blueprints (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and special systems).

Fluency in reading 2D and 3D plans, electronically or hard copy.

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Strong interpersonal skills.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, this role may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand to complete other administrative functions.

Working Environment:

This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Salary Range:

USD $45.00 - USD $50.00 /Hr.
