Job Summary:

The AV Technician is a member of the Information Technology Department who is responsible for the setup, operation and maintenance of the audiovisual systems at SHI. This position reports to the AV Team Lead at Headquarters in New Jersey but works closely with the Marketing and Facilities teams to provide a high level of professional assistance and independent management of SHI’s audiovisual systems. This includes supporting all AV and conference systems at our Executive Briefing Center, NJ buildings, and regional offices.  The AV technician will provide technical support to customers before and during meetings, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on audiovisual and broadcast systems, and provide technical support on projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

Include but not limited to:

Installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of video teleconferencing systems.

Configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of room scheduling systems and equipment.

Installation, configuration, and maintenance of video projection equipment.

Installation, configuration, and maintenance of digital displays, televisions, monitors, and digital signage.

Installation, configuration, and maintenance of video cameras.

Installation, configuration, and maintenance of audio equipment, microphones, and speaker systems.

Operation of room control systems to create the proper environment for presentation of audio and video at conferences, meetings, and events.

Work closely with EBC events team to ensure all audiovisual and teleconferencing requirements are met for meetings and events in the Executive Briefing Center, general conference rooms, various training rooms, public space areas, etc.

Monitor daily audiovisual conference room schedule and contact the end users to determine their A/V requirements prior to each scheduled meeting.

Assist end users with set-up for conferences, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly.

Provide presentation support including importing and manipulating PowerPoint slides and supporting the capture, editing, and publishing of presentations from events.

Respond to and satisfy customer AV requests while meetings are being conducted on-site.

Provide technical support to employees on AV equipment, applications, and related systems.

Collaborate with organizational leadership to establish and enforce proper AV practices and procedures.

Document AV related policies and procedures. Create how-to guides, and directions for supported equipment or resources within the organization.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required

Associates Degree or relevant work experience required

1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in educational, customer service or hospitality environment

Knowledge and experience in audiovisual communications technologies including disciplines such as sound, video, lighting, staging, audio setup, engineering, and mixing.

Knowledge and experience with display and projection systems, recording and distribution, AV automation and management systems, cameras and microphones, visual presentation equipment, digital signage, VOIP, RF distribution systems, and amplifier systems.

Experience with video conferencing systems and unified collaboration services.

Hands-on experience with audio-visual equipment setup, cabling, and basic installation.

Required Skills:

Excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to follow a structured methodology to solve problems.

Excellent teamwork and organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Desire and ability to research and study technology to increase knowledge and solve problems.

Proficient with AV presentation software and computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in pressure situations

 Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Experience working with sophisticated AV systems in a corporate setting.

Unique Requirements:

May include after hours and on-call duties with guaranteed response times.

May be requested to assist in set up and breakdown of briefing center rooms which can involve moving of stage, AV equipment, tables and chairs.

Limited travel, as necessary.

Must maintain a professional appearance and dress in professional clothes on a regular basis.

A valid driver’s license.

Required to safely lift and move items up to 50 lbs.

Additional Information:

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $35,000 - $50,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
