Location: Sunderland, Newcastle
Salary: £100 to £120 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Part-Time/Full-Time
GSL Education’s Newcastle branch are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Cover Supervisor (Science) to support the delivery of science lessons across secondary schools in Sunderland and Newcastle. This role involves stepping into the classroom to provide cover for absent teachers, ensuring that learning continues smoothly. With additional responsibilities, you will also assist with planning, resource preparation, and helping students engage with the subject matter.
Key Responsibilities for Cover Supervisor (Science):
Deliver engaging science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, following lesson plans provided by the class teacher.
Supervise students in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a productive learning environment.
Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, and student assessment as needed.
Maintain classroom discipline, manage student behaviour, and address any issues that may arise during the lesson.
Liaise with science department staff to ensure the smooth running of lessons and follow-up tasks.
Support students with any questions or challenges related to the subject matter, encouraging independent learning.
Requirements for Cover Supervisor (Science):
A degree in science (or a related field) or strong subject knowledge.
Prior experience working with secondary-aged students in a classroom or tutoring capacity is desirable.
Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Ability to take on additional responsibilities such as lesson preparation, marking, and assisting with assessments.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with both students and staff.
Flexibility to adapt to different schools and work closely with their science departments.
