Water Network Inspector
Your experience in any industry is valuable to us here at Southern Water. You have the opportunity earn a great initial starting salary around £26,880 plus you have potential to increase your earnings with standby payments.
We have an excellent company benefits package which includes a Business Van, Fuel Card, Company bonus and plus much more, in a role with stability and progression combined. There will not be many roles you see where you can significantly impact the satisfaction of customers. You are frontline superheroes at Southern Water. So, if you have a great customer service ethic with enthusiastic approach to how the water industry operates, this could be the role for you.
You will be part of our customer facing operation, the business simply cannot operate without you. Every day is different, you will be working in all conditions carrying inspections and, in some instances, resolve a range of customer related incidents, to ensure that our customers receive a continuous supply of fresh water. If the issue cannot be fixed by yourself, you will make the decision of where it needs to be directed for resolution, including attendance by one of our service partners.
Joining us as a Water Network Inspector could prepare you well for future roles across the business. Water network inspectors have progressed into project management and operational manager roles – you will be one of our technical experts in the wholesale water network arena. You may also gain indirect knowledge in mechanical and electrical specialisms and this could prove to be a future field of study with the skills you will gain. Southern Water can support this ambition with upskilling apprenticeships and other training.
Some of the responsibilities that you will carry out will include but are not limited to:
• Providing a courteous and efficient service to all customers ranging from domestic users to large industrial companies.
• Plan, organise and execute shutdowns to the distribution system so that disruption to the customer is minimised and where possible the supply is maintained
• Ensure that the procedures for the protection of water quality during main repairs are always adhered to.
• Responsible as first point of contact during emergencies; determine course of action to be taken escalating where necessary.
You will be:
• Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
• Prepared to work a standby rota and additional bank holiday rota.
• Part of a team who delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Southern Water.
• Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.
• Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high quality controls.
Qualifications
• Valid UK Drivers Licence
Join our Water Network team and see how far your career could progress with a company committed to career progression, training and development opportunities, responsible growth, and improvement.
If you like the sound of the role and would be interested to hear more, please apply now. We look forward to hearing from you.
Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, because delivering water for life is our core purpose. To achieve this, we need 24/7 support in place to resolve incidents quickly and efficiently. All our employees understand the importance of out-of-hours incident support – because when problems appear, fixing them is our top priority. That’s why our people join together and support when and however needed to make sure our customers get the service they deserve. Joining the Southern Water family means you’ll become part of our incident support team. During your interview, your manager will speak to you about any incident support rotas that apply to your position.
Does this opportunity excite you but you’re not 100% sure if you meet all the requirements for the role? Or are you concerned that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t possible given your personal circumstances? Whilst we can’t accommodate every flexible working request, we’ll try to find a practical solution. So why not engage with us and find out more about this role?
