SW Locums need a social worker with a proven history of working within a Looked after Children's Team in the UK. You will be supported by experienced and stable team which has manageable caseloads, we are looking for someone to join the Looked After Children team at Achieving for Children and make a real difference to our children and young people's lives.

Previous UK experience of working in a Permanency Service would be a distinct advantage.

Hybrid working - required to work 3 days in the office / out in the community

The Children Looked After Team support children and young people aged 0-18 that are accommodated by Richmond and Kingston. Our children and young people are placed in various settings such as Kinship placements, foster placement and residential provisions. The service is responsible for the provision of quality placements for children and young people, ensuring their needs are met and children and young people are safeguarded through the implementation of effective care plans.

As part of the role, the postholder will undertake regular statutory visits, complete and update assessments and review the children and young people’s care plan. Occasionally, they will be required to prepare reports and attend court. Due to the location of some of our placements, there will be the opportunity to travel to other parts of the country.

Essential Requirements:

* Degree or higher qualification in Social Work.

* Registration with Social Work England.

* Knowledge of the legislative frameworks for child and family social work.

* Enhanced DBS Issued within the last 12 months or be registered with the DBS Update Service.

* Right to work in the UK.

* Completion of 2 years post Qualified work in the UK or ASYE.

Duties:

Directing work with children, young people and families, and if required carers in multiple settings/locations, ensuring the child/young person’s voice
is central to all case work and recording including:

* Organising their own workload ensuring that children and young people are seen and statutory commitments are met within the prescribed timescales.

* Delivering recognised packages of support and tools to engage children, young people and families to achieve positive outcomes. This will require climbing stairs and lifting small children and their equipment, travel to and from destinations, lone working and occasional weekend and evening working.

* Building purposeful, effective relationships with children and families, and carers demonstrating a high level of skill in evidence based, effective social work approaches to helping children and families which support change.

* Working to tight deadlines, managing conflicting demands and interruptions.

* Undertaking assessments of need and risk; planning for outcomes, reviewing in line with procedures and applying understanding of the key risk factors affecting child welfare and development.
