Job Details:
Job Title: Responsible Pharmacist
Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 per annum + Bonus (dependent on experience and negotiable)
Contract Type: Permanent
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 9am – 6pm with a 1 hour lunch break. Some Saturday’s from 9am – 12.30pm
Sponsorship available if GPhC registered and has UK experience
Job Summary:
As a Responsible Pharmacist, you'll be responsible for dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medicines that help people to maintain and improve their lives, in a cost-effective way. You will be responsible for constantly monitoring the quality, safety, and use of medicines, which requires a high level of interaction with patients, providing advice and information about the use of medicines and medical appliances.
As a Community Pharmacist, you will work alongside Pharmacy Technicians and Dispensing Assistants to deliver the pharmacy service including:
• Dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medicines to the public
• Reviewing prescriptions from doctors to ensure accuracy and suitability for the patient, including the dosage, ingredients required, and correctly and safely labelled.
• Supervise the preparation of any medicines when not supplied ready-made by manufacturers
• Maintaining a register of controlled drugs for legal and stock control purposes
• Liaising with doctors and other healthcare professionals to monitor, review and evaluate the effectiveness of medications
• Delivery of specialist National Health Service (NHS) services such as New Medicine Service (NMS), Hypertension, NHS referral service (CPCS), Flu and Covid vaccination
• Participate in the medicinal stock ordering, inventory maintenance and management according to Lawsat Pharm processes
In addition to NHS prescriptions and services investing in automation technologies and introducing new private clinical services via new releases of the Lawsat Pharm digital product.
As a Responsible Pharmacist you will be expected to:
• Participate in the development and testing of new services & releases
• Introduce and deliver new clinical services within a Community Pharmacy setting
• Managing, supervising, educating and training pharmacy support staff in new private clinical services and NHS services
Interpersonal Skills:
• Excellent communication skills - you must listen carefully to what patients say, as well as explain complex and sometimes sensitive information to the general public and other healthcare professionals
• The ability to work with others in a multidisciplinary team, as well as to lead others in a team
• Concern for the welfare of the general public
• Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
• A methodical approach to work
• An understanding of business principles
• High levels of customer service
• A professional and confident manner
• The ability to inspire the trust of others
• That you understand and can apply the law in terms of the storage and dispensing of medicines
• A willingness to take on a high level of responsibility.
Details of the Bonus Benefits:
Pharmacists are paid a bonus for the delivery of services each month. The remuneration package is stated below:
* NMS delivery: £4 per NMS completed & claimed
* Pharmacy First service: £4 per consultation completed & claimed
* Hypertension: £2 per service completed & claimed
* Flu vaccination: £2 per flu vaccination completed & claimed
As a guideline and based on the recent services delivered, the average bonus equates between £300 - £350 per month in addition to the basic salary. (This figure excludes flu vaccination, as the season starts later in the year, so there is potential to increase the amount even further.)
Essential Criteria:
* Registered with the GPhC
* Masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm)
* Capable of checking in a 8.5k+ (min pcm) dispensed item pharmacy
* Experience in capturing & performing 20+(min, pcm) hypertension service
* Experience in NMS capture & delivery
* Building good relationships with GP in order to develop the CPCS capability for the pharmacy
