Commercial Manager

Main Contractor - PRIME & Structural alterations

Central / West London

Up to £140,000 and full package

CSC Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager on behalf of a leading main contractor with an annual turnover c.£150 million per annum. They are based in Central London and work alongside some of the most distinguished clients and unique brands in the UK. The types of schemes they deliver include new build, heavy structural refurbishments and fit out up to £40 million. The role will report into the relevant Operations Director.

The Commercial Manager duties include;

Working as part of the Senior Delivery Team, taking direction from construction lead and project senior leadership team, providing guidance to wider team.
You will build relationships to manage and influence senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
You will build a strong working relationship with your clients and support the construction lead in turning the client's vision into a deliverable onsite plan.
Provide contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub- contractors.
Provide incentivised arrangements as appropriate.
Support the assessment of early warning notices and compensation events.
Report expenditure against the package budget on a monthly basis.
Support the change management process in conjunction with other functions.
Input to the monthly consolidated project-wide cost / expenditure report.
Assess potential contractor and supplier claims and make recommendations for settlement.
Finalise contractor's accounts and close out contracts for the project.
Raising consultant, supplier or contractor instructions as necessary for signature by approved parties.
Report on the expenditure of financial contingency built into the relevant packages.
Provide schedules of rates and commercial input to tender documentation.
Undertake cost analysis of bid returns.
Manage multiple Surveyors at any one time.

You will support junior members of your project team and provide an environment to share knowledge and experience.
You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice.
You will provide technical expertise and support your delivery teams, creating a culture of ownership, promoting roles and responsibilities.

You'll need to have:

Good knowledge of all aspects of commercial management.
Familiarity with various forms of JCT form of contract.
Good IT skills especially excel and commercial software.

You'll also have:

Good team player.
Strong leadership skills.
Strong focus on detail.
Able to hold their own and negotiate.
Good interpersonal skills.
Membership of MCIOB / MAPM / MRICS or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
Construction management expertise.
Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders.
