An established and forward-thinking law firm is seeking a part-time Accounts Assistant to join its small but busy accounts department. The role focuses on delivering accurate and timely transactional work while maintaining strong relationships with clients. Working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, you'll be an integral part of a team that ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
Hours:
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
9:00 AM to 5:00 PMKey Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate accounting records in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules
Process high volumes of receipts and payments across various bank accounts
Manage daily reconciliations using practice management software (Tikit Partner for Windows)
Handle tasks including purchase ledger, expense ledger, online invoicing, payroll, and month-end accounts production
Act as the first point of contact for payment queries and proactively communicate with fee earners
Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, internal policies, and relevant legislation
Provide support in training new colleagues in accounting processes
Assist in the preparation of annual accounts and offer general administrative support to the accounts teamQualifications:
Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
AAT or similar accounting qualification is advantageous
CIMA membership is a plusKnowledge & Skills:
Strong IT skills, particularly in MS Office (Word and Excel)
Familiarity with electronic accounting systems, with experience in Tikit (Partner for Windows) being a bonus
Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering RegulationsExperience:
Previous experience or a keen interest in working within an accounts department, ideally in a legal firm
