About the Role

The successful candidate will want to embrace the can do attitude throughout our business. Teamwork, mentoring and cross divisional assistance will be foremost in their thoughts whilst delivering this role.

Commercial management of live projects within the company.
Leading and managing a team of commercial professionals to secure the best financial result.
Leading and managing a team of estimating professionals to secure the best new contracts
Building and maintaining client relationships and identifying opportunities for new contracts.Further responsibilities:

• Maximise cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment

• Work with supply chain to promote and measure continuous improvement in terms of cost, quality and learning of all parties

• Manage the production of timely accounts for use in managing the business

• Manage the production of accurate and timely financial forecasts

• Establish and maintain accurate and robust reporting structures and monitor resources and costs to ensure that projects achieve agreed targets

• Negotiate and agree sub-contract or purchase order terms and conditions

• Maintain commercial, technical, legal and insurance knowledge to high levels of knowledge

• Champion the company's commercial processes and procedures on projects to maximise returns in terms of profit and shareholder value

• Manage the close out projects efficiently using a high degree of understanding and working knowledge of project close out processes

• Understand the impact of commercial and technical changes at strategic level within the customers business industry / sector

• Supports and reacts positively to organisational change Project Management

• Administration and knowledge sharing

• Maintain own knowledge base of the company's working practices and industry and champion development of other commercial staff

• Support knowledge share and learning to develop an innovative team philosophy

• Identify, manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities

• Early identification of business opportunities and risks in projects throughout the project life cycle and ensuring that risk management, risk registers and contingency are in place to manage a minimise risk

• Ensure / provide support to Teams to ensure that the company's commercial position is protected using in depth understanding and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes

• Manage prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including Compensation Events (variations), claims and disputes

• Ensuring materials / off site services are procured in an efficient manner with capable organisations in accordance with the company's procurement policy and procedures and ensure appropriate records are kept.

• Adopt a major part of concluding client negotiations

• Establishes meaningful goals and objectives, monitoring of the same

• Ensures project teams have a good commercial understanding and focus

• Leading by example

• Delegate responsibility to lowest appropriate level

Abou tthe Candidate

Experience in commercial management within relevant industries such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, or retail.
Ability to understand market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making.
Experience working in international markets or with multinational companies is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage large-scale budgets, financial forecasts, and profitability analyses.
As the business grows we shall look to engage with an estimating manager to take over the management of the estimating department and work alongside the Senior Commercial Manager
