Location: Midlands

Role Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join our Data, Analytics, and Development team. This pivotal role involves not just technical expertise but also significant project lead and team leadership responsibilities. You will be instrumental in driving the effective use of data, shaping data strategies, and leading initiatives that enhance data capabilities across the organization. There is potential for rapid advancement to the Head of Data Engineering position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Lead: Lead data engineering projects from inception to completion, managing cross-functional teams and liaising with non-technical stakeholders to ensure project success and alignment with business goals.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and manage efficient ETL pipelines and data feeds from various sources, ensuring high data quality and security.
  • Database Architecture & Management: Architect and oversee database environments, including staging, warehousing, and lakehouse setups, adhering to best practices.
  • Analytics & Best Practices: Apply advanced analytics techniques and promote data standards and best practices across the team and broader organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and explore new opportunities to enhance data utilization and team performance.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Azure Stack: Extensive experience with Azure data services (eg, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory) and on-prem SQL Server solutions. Experience with MS Fabric is a plus.
  • Database Management: Strong understanding of database architecture, including experience with T-SQL, Oracle SQL, SparkSQL, DAX, M Language, and Python.
  • ETL & API Integration: Demonstrated expertise in designing ETL pipelines and integrating data from various sources using APIs and other methods.

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of data management and analytics with a focus on the Microsoft stack and database architecture.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Oracle databases and Oracle SQL.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Git for version control.
