We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Construction Site Manager to oversee the RC foundations and drainage of a new commercial project based in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and construction, particularly in managing time critical large-scale foundation and drainage projects. You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all on-site activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality control and delivering the project on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
Lead and manage the construction of the foundations and drainage systems from inception to completion.
Coordination:
Collaborate with the client, engineers, architects, and trades to ensure all work is aligned with project designs, specifications, and airport safety standards.
Quality Control:
Ensure that foundation and drainage works are executed according to the approved drawings and are inspected and signed off accordingly.
Scheduling:
Develop and maintain construction programmes, coordinate resources, and allocate labour efficiently to meet project deadlines.
Safety Management:
Ensure compliance with safety legislation, particularly those specific to working in close proximity to an active airport and conduct regular safety inspections.
Communication:
Act as the main point of contact between the client project team, authorities, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Reporting:
Provide regular updates on project progress, including cost management, programme, and any potential risks or delays.
Permitting & Compliance:
Ensure all necessary permits are in place and that the project complies with local, national, and construction regulations.
Risk Management:
Identify, record and report potential project risks & delays as works progress (weather, ground conditions, etc.)
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with an engineering background.
* NEBOSH is desirable (not essential)
* Proven experience (5+ years) as a standalone Construction Site Manager, with a focus on groundwork elements such foundations, drainage, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge of construction regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency with project management software - Asta / BIM360 / A site / Huddle and reading drawings.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Valid construction and safety certifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS, First aid, TWS / TWC) are required.
