The School and Role

This EYFS, Primary, Secondary and Post-16 SEND school, based in South Tyneside is looking to appoint a passionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work in either Key Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this SEND school as part of an established team, the desired Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be working on a 1:1 basis with pupils with SEND including Autism, MLD, SLD, PMLD, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, Complex Medical Needs and Speech and Language Difficulties. This full time Special Needs Teaching Assistant role is long term from September ongoing. You must be happy with feeding and changing and being involved in hydrotherapy sessions supporting children in and out of the pool. There is a requirement to help with moving and supporting the children. Manual handling training is not essential but desirable.

The school is a nurturing, educational and therapeutic community for pupils and their families and pride themselves on having a positive and welcoming atmosphere. They work together to provide a stimulating environment to ensure the pupils achieve to the best of their ability. Requirements

The desired Special Needs Teaching Assistant will have;

Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children.
Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
A passion for the progress of SEND primary and secondary school pupils.
An ability to work as part of a team.
Must be happy with personal care assistance and feeding.
Must be happy to assist pupils in the hydrotherapy pool.
Manual handling is desirable but not essential.
