Position: Quality Engineer
Department: Quality
Reporting to: Quality Manager
Security Level: BPSS & SC

Summary:

The Quality Engineer will be an integral part of the Quality department, collaborating closely with the Quality team to manage processes and standardize metrics across all business units. This role involves mentoring employees in quality fundamentals, managing quality for Build to Print and Design Make contracts, and ensuring compliance through effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting various departmental activities and fulfilling additional duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities for the Quality Engineer job:

* Implement robust quality controls in line with AS9100 Rev D / ISO9001:2015 and customer-specific requirements.

* Manage and update quality documentation, ensuring accurate revision control.

* Identify and diagnose production process issues, utilizing root cause analysis methods like 5 Whys.

* Collaborate with different departments to support day-to-day quality management.

* Address daily quality issues, providing effective problem-solving solutions.

* Engage with suppliers and customers as necessary to resolve quality concerns.

* Contribute to the completion of monthly KPIs and ensure alignment with objectives.

* Promote best practices and standardized approaches within the quality team.

* Conduct supplier quality audits and internal audits as needed.

* Provide hands-on support in inspection and laboratory tasks.

* Develop work instructions and ensure consistent inspection techniques.

* Lead quality assurance controls in process areas.

* Mentor employees in AS9100 Rev D requirements and share best practices.

* Support or lead onsite calibration activities.

* Drive and participate in continual improvement initiatives.

Key Skills for the Quality Engineer job:

* Strong background in Quality Engineering within AS9100 Rev D / ISO9001:2015 certified environments. (SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP and PPAP).

* Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

* Experienced in conventional inspection equipment and 8D problem-solving processes.

* Competent in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Skills:

* Training as an internal auditor for AS9100 Rev D / ISO9001:2015.

* 8D methodology training.

* Familiarity with CMM inspection equipment, measuring arms, and other inspection technologies.

* Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.

Attributes:

* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor others effectively.

* A team player with a flexible, methodical, and organized approach.

* High attention to detail with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.

* Ability to drive tasks to completion with a finisher mentality.

* Open to change and adaptable to evolving circumstances.

Other Requirements:

A full driving license.

Willingness to travel within the UK at short notice to conduct onsite audits and address quality issues.
