Overview:

The Process Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to assist with developing, documenting, implementing, and supporting processes for LAN cable products. Provides Manufacturing Engineering support to ensure the timely production of quality, cost effective LAN cable products.  Performs continuous operational improvements that support the goals and objectives of the business unit including safety improvement, quality improvements, productivity improvements, and cost reductions. This role provides the opportunity to work within the Network Solutions Business Unit of Leviton Manufacturing Company Inc.  

Responsibilities:

Assists with projects required to improve product performance, cost, waste, quality, safety, efficiency and qualify equipment to support business growth.

Supports and may eventually lead continuous improvement activities such as Lean/6 sigma teams.

Develop presentations and training materials supporting processing improvements and deliver training sessions.

Design tooling and mechanical parts, assist in the development of equipment specifications and creation of justification for capital expenditures.

Attend Value Stream Daily Management team meetings to address technical problems. Supports lead root cause analysis process and investigations, developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Develop experimental tests plan, document, and coordinate the manufacture of prototypes, perform product/process evaluations, present results using statistical techniques and implement optimized solutions.

Participates in project planning, teams, and periodically reports on activities.

Generates Process Standards and procedures such as One Point Lessons, Standard Work Instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Provides manufacturing support related to new product introduction and sustainability.

Contributes on new product teams to bring product to the market in a timely manner while assuring quality and manufacturability of process and product.

Performs Cost/Benefit analyses for new and improved processes and/or products.

Qualifications:

Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)

Proficiency with Statistical analysis using JMP preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and effectively present information.

Ability to gather input from production personnel and encourage a culture of teamwork.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables and situations.

Ability to work in a highly confidential work environment.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; or Mechanical Engineering Technology required

Experience or internship in a manufacturing environment preferred

Previous plastic and polymer extrusion experience or education preferred

Travel:

Up to 10%
