Overview:

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s I-64 offices (Richmond, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Williamsburg, VA) are seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join our team.

Our Transportation team works with public, private, and institutional clients to support a variety of projects. Our services include design of multilane highways and interchanges to the reconstruction of arterials and local roads, bridges, small intersection improvements, on- and off-street bicycle facilities, operational analysis, multimodal planning, conceptual design, parking analysis, and safety evaluations. We collaborate across our footprint with numerous other VHB groups on many of our transformative projects.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner

Assist in development of planning and engineering solutions

Assist in data mining and visualization

Perform analysis of data or calculations

Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities

Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports

Skills and Attributes

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Team oriented with strong capability to work independently

Self-motivated with attention to detail

A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve

Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering

0-1 years of professional site/civil engineering experience

EIT/EI preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
