Position: Process Operator

Primary Location:  Mount Vernon, WA

Schedule:  3am-11am (M-F)

Reports to: Plant Manager

Compensation: $29.70/hr, non-exempt

Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location.   The hourly  rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate  for new hires for the position.   Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements.   Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

About This Role and You

The Process Operator maintains and operates our Sulfur Prilling Plant and the Emulsified Sulfur Plant in Mount Vernon, WA. 

They monitor, mix and control product/processes, operate the cooling towers, heat exchangers pumps, mixers, conveyors system, bucket elevators and monitor steam pressure, temperature, and boiler operation 

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent required.

High degree of mechanical aptitude and skills required.

Previous maintenance experience required.

Must have an understanding of units of weights and measures.

Works well under direction and follows established procedures.

Certified Welder would be an asset.

Heavy Equipment operations required, forklift and wheel loader experience preferred.

Experience working in an industrial environment preferred.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic computer skills working with the Windows operating system and Word programs. 

Medical Requirement

Chemtrade is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the public. All employees are required to complete and pass their annually held medical assessments, including but not limited to the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and the ability to wear a respirator as a condition of employment

 Responsibilities

Monitor steam pressure, temperature, and boiler operation.

Start-up and shut-down of plants as required.

Load prilled sulfur into hopper trucks with wheel loader.

Load prilled Sulfur into 20’ containers with hopper conveyor and wheel loader.

Load emulsified sulfur into Tank Trucks with Air operated pumps.

Operate a Forklift.

Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.

Ensure that all operations meet or exceed environmental and safety regulations through routine audits, checklists, participation in Incident Investigation root cause analysis and documentation.

Keep work and loading areas clean.

Other related duties as assigned.

Monitor waste water system.
