Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Automation Engineer Intern (Mechanical) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust and scalable automated solutions to support manufacturing and distribution.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Develop all aspects of engineering design: mechanical, electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/robotic programming
Ensure all solutions comply with product design specifications
Generate revision-controlled design and user documentation
Participate in design reviews and present solutions to team and management
Troubleshoot, support and continuously improve existing automated solutions
Research and development of new, cutting-edge automation concepts
Collaborate with project teams across Garmin (Olathe & Taiwan)
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Excellent problem solving ability
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Previous, hands-on automation experience involving robotics, electrical panel design, industrial controls and programming
Experience using 2D and 3D CAD design software (AutoCAD, Solidworks)
