Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Data Engineer Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing aspects of data engineering for our IT department and learning to maintain and enhance Big Data Ecosystems at Garmin.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Understand foundational concepts of data development and operational procedures
Understand production/operations issues as they relate to engineering
Work with team to develop scalable, extensible solution architectures leveraging contemporary big-data technologies in an evolving operational framework
Participate in design, code, test, maintenance, enhance and decommission phases throughout software life cycle to contribute technical expertise and to identify issues
Assist team to develop reliable solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Completed coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Must possess relevant experience and/or training in languages such as SQL, Python or R
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Previous experience working in a team environment
