Overview:

Volunteer Coordinator, Hospice, Mercyhealth at Home

- Monday through Friday Day Shift Hours

- 80 hours / weeks

Responsible for the recruitment of qualified volunteers, and for the development and coordination of related activities for Mercyhealth at Home Hospice Program.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Participates in the Hospice IDG meeting to develop a volunteer plan of care for patients and families needing volunteer assistance

Recruits, develops, and coordinates the activities of volunteers for all Mercyhealth at Home service related programs

Develops and maintains guidelines for volunteer activities

Maintains personnel and related files on active and inactive volunteers. Provides hospice and volunteer education.

Develops volunteer activities in assisting current patients and families, bereavement program support, and other volunteer needs of Mercyhealth at Home

Assesses patient and/or caregivers needs. Develops Volunteer Plan of Care. Matches needs with volunteer availability. Evaluate and support volunteers with their caregiver's activities.

Participates in the quality improvement program to evaluate outcomes

Educates field staff in recognizing the volunteer needs of families and utilizing their resources

Coordinates closely with program managers and supervisors to assure effective activities

Plans and organizes volunteer recognition and other volunteer events

Maintains communication with businesses, churches, and other organizations regarding volunteer services

This position may also be responsible for coordinating and developing fund raising programs, acting as a liaison for charity events, and any other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent

Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree preferred

At least one year experience in a leadership role

Knowledge of Hospice services preferred

Previous experience coordinating volunteers preferred

Certification and Licensure

For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles:

Maintain a valid driver's license.

Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

For those driving their personal vehicles:

Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.

Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.
