Central Supply Clerk

Part-Time

The Central Supply Clerks' responsibilities encompass those areas that relate to maintaining adequate amounts, records and organization of facility stock necessary for patient care.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Keeping the Central Supply area fully stocked and keeping units stocked

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Ordering supplies and compiling purchase orders.

Receiving supplies and stocking Central Supply storage.

Checking invoices, shipments, unpacking, etc.

Distributing, collecting and filling floor supply lists. Checking, removing expired supplies as noted.

Obtaining supplies for floors on other than usual day, when needed.

Maintaining records of chargeable items for billing purposes

Maintaining inventory. Remove and dispose of any expired items in inventory

Functioning as a liaison between the Nursing Department and vendor when necessary.

Ordering and distributing office supplies

Maintaining a log of the serial number, warranty and date of purchase of durable medical equipment.

Collecting unused equipment from the units, i.e., IV Pools, bedside commode, suction machine.

Qualifications of a Central Supply Clerk:

High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in health information management or related field preferred

Prior experience working in medical records management, preferably within a long-term care facility or healthcare setting

Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare documentation standards

Previous experience in ordering supplies and compiling purchase orders
