We are currently hiring Master Diesel Technicians in Brooklyn!
Action Carting/Interstate Waste Services, is hiring experienced mechanics to join our team! We're seeking individuals who take pride in their preventative maintenance, knowing that healthy vehicles last longer when they perform at their best. Action is looking for knowledgeable mechanics who can troubleshoot diesel engines when issues of any severity arise.
Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country! We primarily service Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and recently expanded our operations of transfer stations into Pennsylvania and Ohio, where we also own and operate a state-of-the-art rail-served landfill. Responsibilities:
The Action Environmental Group, parent company of Action Carting in New York City and Interstate Waste Services in Northern New Jersey/Southern New York State, has several openings for skilled Diesel Mechanics ready to take on the next challenge in their career.
Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components. Additional responsibilities include:
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
Washes vehicles and equipment.
Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
Perform other maintenance related work as required.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
Computer diagnostic experience is required
Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus
Trade school or similar training is a plus
Knowledge of safety procedures and practices
