Woolpert’s Geospatial Survey Discipline is seeking a technical data manager to report to office responsible for managing a group of mobile/terrestrial lidar technicians and supporting geospatial scanning and mapping projects nationwide. This position is primarily responsible for feature extraction, staff training, team management, cost estimating, scheduling, technical oversight, and project reporting for lidar specific projects. The position is key in establishing and improving internal and external client relationships, growth, and assisting our project management teams with securing repeat opportunities within a client base. Qualified candidates will have experience with mobile and terrestrial lidar technology, excellent communication and computer skills, experience with GPS/RTK, mobile and terrestrial lidar sensors, IMU, and DME technology. Additionally, qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities:

Perform technical aspects of specified deliverables, lead a team of technical staff in creating deliverables, and ensure that QA/QC procedures are employed consistent with scope, schedule, and budget.

Review scope and schedule of proposals to develop budgets for completing technical aspects of a project.

Manage extraction tasks, project schedule, budget, and quality, and escalate unresolved issues to the team leader.

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and workflows.

Work in concert with mobile lidar team to develop and implement project QA/QC standards.

Execute R&D efforts and develop new workflows.

Communicate project status updates as needed.

Assist in firm marketing initiatives (such as attending conferences and trade shows).

Create formal presentations and/or publish articles for professional/trade/civic organizations.

Develop/mentor junior staff members through scheduled training sessions and regular staff engagement.

Feature extraction production support as projects dictate.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of professional geospatial related experience.

Practical knowledge of survey and lidar principles as well as DOT specifications.

Working knowledge of software associated with lidar and survey data processing.

Experience with the following software packages: TopoDOT, Microstation Connect, OpenRoads Designer, Leica Pegasus Manager/Leica MMS Software (Cyclone), Terra Solid, BIM – Revit, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS.

Proven ability to effectively present information before groups of clients or employees.

Experience with reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

Ability to work independently and with a team to bring projects to completion.

Display a focus on innovation and process improvement.

Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and data management skills.
