Overview:
Working under the supervision of the Project Administrator, prepare and check engineering computations, inspect construction work, conduct field material sampling and testing, and coordinate the work of junior Inspectors.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage the lower level inspectors and verification testing
Responsible for daily inspection efforts on multiple complex, large, and /or diverse projects in order to ensure contractor’s operations comply with project plans, specifications, and contract documents
Monitor on-site construction activities; prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and reviews periodical pay estimates with contractor for accuracy and track quantities of completed work
Prepare sketches and assemble data for Project Administrator to utilize when making changes to the project
Perform field inspection of contractors’ operations to confirm compliance with contract documents; prepare inspection reports
Prepare Daily Reports in Site Manager software as well as any other client required documentation
Perform field sampling and testing of component materials and completed work in accordance with the construction contract and client’s scope of services (plans, specifications, and special provisions)
Inspect traffic control devices and report deficiencies to ensure compliance with standards
Maintain detailed accurate records of daily operations and significant events
Participate in the development of job safety practices and observe general job safety practices
Monitor and inspect the Work Zone Traffic Control (in accordance with the client’s requirements)
Available to work daytime, nightime, and/or weekend shifts as required
Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely resume updates and participating in marketing campaigns
Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals
Competencies
possesses excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat
Able to read, interpret and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures
Possess highest level of technical expertise; capable of addressing the most difficult and novel issues/problems
Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, two (2) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection or a Civil Engineering degree and one (1) year of road & bridge CEI experience with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year
Valid Driver’s License and a clear driving record
Must have, or be able to earn within a year, some or all of the following certifications as required by job assignments: FDOT Intermediate MOT, CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I, CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges), CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I, CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II, CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I, CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II, CTQP Pile Driving Inspection, CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection, CTQP Grouting Technician Level I (Bridges), CTQP Post-Tensioning Technician Level I (Bridges), IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I, CTQP Final Estimates Level I, Nuclear Radiation Safety, IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I, Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors, and Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects)
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited university may be substituted for experience
