What You Will Do

As a Commissioning Engineer at Prime Controls, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful start-up and commissioning of systems for new and existing facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the system is ready for startup and resolving problems during startup. Your expertise will contribute to detecting risks, suggesting solutions, and ensuring compliance with national standards and project requirements. 

A Typical Day at Prime Controls

Review engineering design documents to verify compliance with requirements.

Perform I/O and functional testing.

Support technicians by assisting in the troubleshooting of field devices.

Troubleshoot PLC code and HMI screens and make fixes as appropriate. Make system changes as requested by the customer.

Configure and troubleshoot network equipment.

Support the startup of the system.

Train the customer's employees on their systems.

What You Will Bring

The Basic

2 years of experience in industrial automation

Expertise in PLC programming and the commissioning of systems

Willing to travel  up to 75%

The Preferred

4 years of experience in industrial automation

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related Bachelor's discipline, related degree from a Technical College or equivelant industrial controls experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to a risk of electrical shock. The environment can be outside and in other spaces that are not environmentally controlled. The temperature can be over 100°F or below 32°F. There can be mud on the ground as well as ice and snow. At times, the employee will be required to wear PPE (i.e. hard hat, safety boots, hearing protection, eye protection, etc.).

At times, the employee will be working in an environment with significant noise.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities may be made to enable them to perform the essential functions.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee needs to be able to spend 10 hours on their feet walking and attending to duties and equipment throughout the jobsite. They need to be able to climb ladders and step on platforms and equipment. They need to be able to maneuver (stoop, crawl, bend) around obstacles to reach equipment for testing and troubleshooting.
